About College Admissions

Empty Classroom

By The Numbers

  • The national average of American high school students to school guidance counselors is 376-to-1. The recommended average is 250-to-1.

  • In the 2023-2024 college admissions cycle, nearly 1.5 million students submitted 9.5 million applications to 1,000 colleges and universities via the Common Application.

  • The top 30 ranked colleges and universities in the United States reject 87-97% of their freshman applicants.

The numbers are scary.

While freshman applications to schools continue to rise, college acceptance rates are plummeting. School guidance counselors are responsible for too many students, and cannot provide adequate support and resources to families.

Too often, applicants and their families are left overwhelmed and confused, struggling to make sense of the confusing and arbitrary college admissions process.

It doesn't need to be this difficult.

About My Approach:
How I Work

Stepping Stones helps families easily navigate the college admissions process.

I work with students one-on-one, encouraging them to articulate their preferences, goals, interests, and passions. I review and analyze grades and standardized test scores, and work together to create tailored lists of great-fit colleges and universities.

My experience with and understanding of the college admissions process gives students an edge. I help students connect with universities and colleges on a personal level, helping to build relationships that ensure authenticity and success. My students shine in their interviews, on their resumes, and during their college visits.

I know how colleges evaluate applications and I make sure my students stand out. Admissions officers review thousands of applicants each season; I help students develop their personal brands and write applications that highlight their achievements, passions, and long-term goals.

About My Passion:
Why I Do This

The college admissions process is supposed to be an adventure, a time of exploration, growth, and discovery, where students and their families engage with a new and bright future.

Unfortunately, the process often devolves into one filled with anxiety and misery. Students are afraid their futures are on the line and are filled with stress about getting into “the perfect school.” These feelings are heightened by college admissions gossip sites, classmate experiences, and a convoluted, opaque process that seems arbitrary at best and deeply flawed at worst.

I’ve read thousands of undergraduate applications. I know what makes an applicant shine. And I know that I can help your students find the perfect school that will empower them to follow their dreams.

I want to help your family. Connect with me and take ownership of the college admissions process today!
